Dan Croxen-John began his career in eCommerce when he launched the UK’s first online mobile phone shop. The website sold exactly 2 phones over the course of the year - and then Orange brought out prepay phones and sales went through the roof. Dan has held senior positions within multichannel retailers, each time increasing their share of revenue from online. He has previously sat on the Catalogue Exchange Advisory (2006), and been an ECMOD Awards Judge (2010 & 2011). In 2009 Dan founded AWA (formerly Applied Web Analytics) and his team have been helping multi-channel businesses increase their website’s conversion ever since. AWA has offices in London, York, South Africa and the USA, and works with big and small clients including Interflora, Dune, Happy Puzzle Company People. Dan holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the IDM.
Mark Ashley Miller
Mark Ashley Miller started in eCommerce in 2000 and has been enthused by it ever since. The excitement of seeing an order placed, a customer returning or a FEEFO review posted has never diminished. Following ten years in the army and nine years farming, Mark and his wife Fiona created The Present Finder from the back of a high street shop in Sherborne, Dorset – becoming multi-channel retailers in 2001 before the term had even been invented. Being a hands on “box shifting” retailer, Mark has experienced just about every aspect of Direct Marketing from the coal face. Product buying, copy writing, advertising, catalogue design, negotiation with couriers, Christmas fairs, SEO, staff recruitment, PCI, importing from China, white label mail order partnering, 24 hour warehouse shifts, pre-Christmas snow storms, solicitors’ letters regarding the ownership of “key words"…and even a police raid on his warehouse, Mark has seen it all. A keep supporter of all collaborative organisations, Mark enjoys sharing eCommerce tips, benchmarking and asking the first question to DCA event speakers! In his spare time he heaps love on a grass tennis court, plants numerous trees and dreams of sailing around the UK.
