Tony Adams - 2017 DCA elections candidate

Tony Adams designed his first catalogue layout in September 1980. It was for Freemans Mail Order, his first job straight from college. Over 1,700 catalogues later, he not only runs one of the county’s pre-eminent, multi-award winning catalogue design specialist agencies based in sunny Hove – TA Design – but he still designs every day. His stunning hand-drawn shoot layouts and transformative ‘snagging’ of apparently finished catalogues have both proved exceedingly popular. It’s his passion that makes him such a popular speaker, consultant and mentor on all things ‘catalogue design’. His famous insightful catalogue clinic critique has proved invaluable to many businesses throughout the sector. He has been an energetic, enthusiastic and effective board member of the Catalogue Exchange, CatEx and DCA over the past 10 years. His passion and commitment to effective design and the power of print has been constant over the last 37 years (bordering on the obsessive).

About TA Design

TA Design will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary in 2018, and is almost certainly the best independent, specialist catalogue design agency in the UK. Winning more awards than any other agency, including Supplier of the Year 5 times in the last 7 years (the one voted for in secret by the clients) From high fashion to birdseed, from multi billion pound turnover B2B companies to start up retail B2C businesses, from 16 pages to 800, TA Design is the go-to agency for design and marketing-led catalogues which work hard for a powerful return on investment. And very importantly, we strive every day to prove our slogan “You’ll love working with TA Design”.

What can I bring to the Direct Commerce Organisation as a Councillor?

Firstly, I bring to the role an absolute passion to share – I have a unique set of skills and experience in catalogue design, honed over 37 years as a hands-on designer. From holding the forceps at the birth of specialogues to the latest award-winning magalogue, I have been an active proponent of the power of print. An strong advocate for change, I am excited by this opportunity to help drive the DCA forward to the next level, not least to make the organisation more focused on its members’ needs.

My experience, knowledge and affable communication skills, allow me to be an enormous help to anyone producing a printed catalogue, whether for the first or hundredth time. And I am always delighted to do just that within the auspices of the DCA, which is the only Association that really understands the role and power of the printed catalogue. I am always open and ready to share my knowledge and experience with prospects, clients and colleagues (in fact anyone who’ll listen!).
